I’ve always been a sucker for cool technology, and it’s never an exception with even the simplest of peripherals. There used to be a time when all you could get for your computers were mechanical keyboards. But with the evolution of technology, it just got cheaper and and more convenient to make those membrane style keyboards. They required less maintenance… and if they broke… well… they’re cheap enough you can just toss them and replace them. Such is the way of our “throw away society.”
With the rise of big PC Gaming, however, mechanical keyboards have been on a rise back into the mainstream. With all this new attention on them, the technology of the mechanical keyboard has begun to soar. Mechanical keyboards of the past… while being the inspiration for those of today, can’t rival the new technology.
It seems in every, mechanical keyboard these days, there is a “mini rave” of dancing RGB lights, or… whatever color might suit you for the time being. With a wide array of options on who to animate those dancing lights… a keyboard alone could provide one with hours of pure entertainment… not even playing games. And lets not get started on the super enjoyable “clickity-clack”, of typing on one… especially with clicky switches.
Yeah, they can be quite enjoyable. Knowing all this, one could even imagine how excited I was when I received this GMMK1 as a gift. My son, thoughtful kid that he is… bought me this great keyboard for a birthday gift. I was quite excited. Never has anyone got me a gift quite this cool.
I’m really impressed wit the quality of this keyboard. Aluminum case… hot-swapable switches… and just all the little things you can do to these boards. As a tinker, I’ve been very excited to get into moding it for my particular needs and tastes. Overall, Glorious has put together a wonderful package here at a very affordable rate… as far as mechanical keyboards go.
I can’t wait to build my next one… my son may have created a monster…..
