Being a techy type guy… I like to keep things updated, usually, to some degree of regularity. No better way to keep your computer and data safe, than to be sure you’re on top of your updates… that… and make sure you use a really good password (… and 2-factor authentication …. with email confirmation…. ok maybe that’s overboard…. or is it?)
Recently, the new LTS release of Ubuntu was dropped. Say goodbye Focal Fossa and hello Jammy Jellyfish! Honestly… who comes up with these names?
These big updates I tend to put off… as things don’t always work quite like they used to, afterwards. But the process has gotten very smooth over the many years of development. So anyways, I set out to get this update tackled. The whole process took about an hour with my connection and hardware setup. It was probably one of the smoothest release updates I’ve gone through.
There, are a few things that got buggy on me. My drop down terminal wasn’t sizing properly… I did find a workaround to suit me… and some of my Plasma desktop Widgets were missing… and some changed entirely. The main menu has completely changed on me… not sure I like it… but I imagine I’ll get used to it. Honestly, I spend most of my time in a console anyways.
There are a lot of new features to explore… new kernel features that should making gaming a bit better in linux… and I look forward to checking all this out.
