Introduction
Hi! I’m Matt… and I like to do lots of stuff. Maybe, too much stuff. I’d like to say, “I’m a Jack of all trades”, but honestly that seems a bit too cliche. Growing up I played a lot of fantasy games like D&D and Magic: the Gathering, some of which I still do today. But, technology has always been my first love.
I’ve been fascinated with technology since I learned to hook up the VCR and programmed it to record my favorite TV shows while I was at school. So naturally, I find myself today with a hodge-podge of technical knowledge and experience, which strangely, covers an plethora of subjects, to varying degrees of completeness… or incompleteness.
I love to solve problems, especially of the technical nature, but can handle just about any situation. While my passions have driven me to the more tech savvy side of things, I’m no stranger to mechanical systems and manual labor, and love to apply my skill set to solving those things as well.
Technical Skills
I’m no stranger to programming, in many different languages.
What I haven’t learned I’m sure I can pick up.
Here are some I’m familiar with:
- Python
- JavaScript
- PHP
- HTML
- CSS3
- C#
- C
- C++
- Ruby
- PERL
- BASIC
- ASM
Most of my programming skills are focused on web development and frameworks.
Here are some Frameworks and tools I’ve be come familiar with:
- WordPress
- PHPBB
- OpenCart
- Bootstrap
- FontAwesome
- Node.js
- Django
- etc…
All of these great technologies all need someplace to run, and typically that place is some server. And so I’ve spent a great deal of time learning to handle every aspect of System Administration for my own servers.
Here are some of those server technologies.
- Apache2 Server
- NGINX
- PHP
- MySQL
- PostgreSQL
- MongoDB
- Node.js
- VSFTPD
- ProFTPD
- IRCU IRCd
- UnrealIRCD
- TeamSpeak
- Mumble
- Asterisk PBX
So, to sum it all up… I’m pretty much a Professional Nerd… minus the profession part.
More to come?
